When began playing in major tournaments, he was accused by many of being one demensional. His forehand and his volleying were his strengths and it was said that his serve, backhand, and athletic strength was mediocre.
Roger Federer has defied his doubters and has become the "ideal tennis player" in the eyes of many tennis critics. Ironically he has the most all around game of anyone in the pro circuit after being accused of being one demensional. He has so much success as a player due to the fact his game has so many strong points and so little to no weaknessess.
